Machinery and laser systems for dental field - SISMA S.p.A.

absolute precision

SISMA designs and manufactures laser machines for the dental sector: laser welding, marking and engraving systems.

Other obvious advantages of using laser welding in the dental field are the ability to produce a consistently uniform and homogeneous joint that can be certified by a professional.

In fact, the rods, wires in titanium, stainless steel and calcinable plastic used as direct joints or via filler wire in prostheses, bridges, cups and implants are medical devices in their own right, intended for professional use by certified dental technicians.

The resulting benefits are considerable.

Lasers are safe for dentists and their patients and have proven to be superior in many laboratory situations, from the simplest applications (such as hook repairs) to the most complex (such as a circular bridge). In addition, laser welds, although in the mouth, are not subject to abrasion, so they are more durable and can provide safer and longer-lasting work for the patient.

They can be performed directly on the master model, avoiding destruction or damage of acrylic or ceramic parts near the welding area.

Dental devices are marked for different reasons and with different content. The UDI marking regulation applies to reusable instruments that must be reprocessed (e.g. autoclaved) before each use. The marking process must not damage or alter the characteristics of the material itself, cause micro abrasions or cracks with the risk of generating infections and more in patients.

Laser marking is the most widely used technology because it provides fast, indelible, and legible processing even on very small parts or very small areas.

On the torque ratchets, we worked on the adjusting ring nut and the graduated body, engraving the Sisma mark and two bands with continuous marking. The continuous marking consists of a mark of a length corresponding to the thickness of the marked band (0.5 mm), repeated by the laser along the xe axis; the rotation of the object, given by the spindle, then creates the band around it.

Thanks to the tilting spindle, we oriented the stem vertically by marking “B&B DENTAL Implant Company” on the head of the ferrule. All these operations are determined and organized in a simple way by the SLC3 software, which interacts with the Coaxial Vision System (CVS).

An example of a successful application is the case of B&B Dental, who provided us with several dental components to develop a marking process.

The machine used in the tests is a BSP equipped with a rotary spindle and a 20W MOPA laser source: the result is a well-contrasted mark, which is not perceptible to the touch and is resistant to corrosion under stressful conditions, such as decontamination and subsequent autoclave sterilization.
